Inspiring the next generation
The Farr Foundation is a charity that believes every child deserves access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) education. We are aware that many school-aged children – for a variety of reasons – do not have the chance to take part in STEM-related activities and it’s our mission to ensure they all get to enjoy hands-on learning that can benefit their futures.
We do this by providing charitable organisations, schools and colleges with grants and resources that give every child the chance to learn more about science, technology, engineering and maths – from special event days at school to visits to the nation’s finest museums, we aim to inspire, engage and entertain these children and nurture their interests so that they will want to make a positive impact in the future.
There’s a very real skills gap in industries that rely on individuals with STEM skills and backgrounds, and by inspiring children from an early age we hope to bring through the next generation of Construction and Public Sector workers. With their passion for all things STEM, they’ll be fully prepared for the challenges facing these sectors and will play a fundamental role in their success.
Our aim is to provide grant funding directly to education partners and STEM-related charities who can in turn use this to help deliver on the Farr Foundation's mission.
How is the Farr Foundation funded?
The Farr Foundation is funded through two sources:
UK Connect provides much of our funding through its ‘Buy one, Give one’ Scheme. Working with the construction sector, UK Connect donates a proportion of profits generated from the sales of its goods and services to the Foundation. This scheme provides fantastic benefits for the construction sector as it will in turn directly benefit from the increase in young people who then wish to pursue a career in this industry.
GENERAL DONATIONS
This funding is provided by companies, members of the public and grants.
